Most security cameras do one thing well: they record. Making sense of the recording is left to you. At home, that is a phone full of motion alerts you stop reading by the second week. In a business, it is hours of footage nobody has time to review, and an incident found long after it happened.
jupyter closes that gap on the cameras you already own, so there is nothing to replace. The Hub, which sits on your premises, recognises people, vehicles, deliveries and sounds, decides what matters and acts on it. Helios is where you see it, search it and set the rules.
Here is what that is worth to you, one idea at a time.
Six senses
Six kinds of understanding, on cameras you already own.
The Hub adds six AI capabilities to existing IP cameras and runs them on site, so the cameras you have paid for keep earning their place.
The value. You keep what you have already paid for, and gain abilities usually found only in specialist systems, without buying new cameras.
In words
Alerts that say who, where and when.
“Elena arrived at the front entrance.” “A parcel was delivered at 10:32, and someone other than the courier approached it.” Each alert says who or what, where and when. The people you know fade into the background, so the unfamiliar stands out.
The value. Fewer, better alerts that are worth reading, so the system is still doing its job a year from now.
Just ask
Find any moment by describing it.
Visual search. Describe what you remember, such as “person in a green dress” or “someone at the back fence last night”, and Helios returns matching moments across every camera, ranked, pictures first.
Search by photo. Start from an image of a face and see where that person has appeared.
Context preserved. Every result opens at the exact moment, and one step returns you to where you started.
The value. Finding the right ten seconds takes a sentence, not an evening of scrubbing.
Who is who
Name a person once. Every camera knows them.
Sightings from every camera and every day are grouped into the person they belong to.
Groups
Treat people as a team.
Put people in groups such as Staff, Family, Customers and Partners, and one rule covers the whole group.
Galleries
See it, and correct it.
Every person has a face gallery, sorted weakest match first, so an incorrect face can be found and removed in one action, with full undo. When someone’s appearance changes, confirm who it is and their history follows them.
Lists
Every camera looks for them.
Add someone to the Watch list or the Keep-out list from a clip, from People or from a photo, and every camera on the Hub looks for them from then on.
The value. Recognition you can trust, because you stay in control of it.
Rules
Say what you want. It becomes a rule.
Tell Helios what you want, in a sentence: “When staff arrive, send me a footage card.” “If anyone on the Keep-out list is seen after hours, call me and sound the alarm.”
Type @ to reference a person, a group, the Watch list or the Keep-out list. Helios turns the instruction into a structured rule for you to review before it goes live. Responses include footage cards to your phone, notifications, email, phone calls, alarm control, spoken lines through a jupyter Halo, and adding someone to the watch list. Calls are part of Helios Pro.
When an instruction asks for something the Hub cannot detect, Helios says so plainly and offers the closest rule it can enforce. It doesn’t pretend.
The value. Security that follows the way you actually run your home or business, with no technician to call.
Accountable
A clear record of everything it did.
Every outbound action, whether a call, email, footage card or Halo announcement, is recorded under Rules → Sent, with the recipient, the rule that triggered it and its status. Stories can be shared by email, and every day can be read back as a plain account of what happened.
The value. When an insurer or the police ask what happened and who was told, the answer is already written down.
Dependable
Built to keep working on your busiest day.
Face recognition can be switched off camera by camera where it adds no value, while those cameras keep reporting people. Under sustained heavy load, the Hub can pause recognition on lower-priority cameras and resume it automatically when conditions settle, with every paused camera clearly marked and an instant override. Improvements arrive over the air, identically on every Hub.
The value. Nothing drops out silently, and the Hub you buy today keeps improving after it arrives.
Yours
Your footage stays on your premises.
Recordings, face data and rules are stored on the Hub, on your premises, and analysed there. Information leaves the Hub only to provide a feature you use: video you choose to view away from home, search and voice questions, the alerts and messages you set up, and anything you choose to share.
Organisations using face recognition or watch lists are responsible for using them lawfully, including clear signage and a legitimate purpose for each person enrolled. Helios prompts for signage when a watch list is first used at a site. This is not legal advice. Please confirm the obligations that apply to you.
The value. Privacy by design, no cloud storage fees, and no subscription for Helios Essentials. Voice, AI answers and calls are part of Helios Pro.

Good to know
Capabilities depend on your cameras, their placement and the Hub configuration. AI detections can be missed, delayed or incorrect. jupyter is not a monitored alarm service or an emergency service. In an emergency, call 000.
